Our Story

Our History


In 1949, Mr Yu Beng Chew set up a modest stall on Upper Cross Street in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown. His recipe was simple: whole chicken, braised slow in dark soy, with a handful of spices passed down from his family kitchen.

That recipe has not changed. Three generations later, the same master stock simmers daily at 8 Upper Cross Street. The neighbourhood has transformed around it; the chicken has not.
